I unfortunately don’t have any extra books to send out to folks. If you would like to read one of my books and are unable to purchase a copy, I encourage you to visit your local library! Even if they don’t have it on the shelf, you can request an inter-library loan. If you are a student, ask your teacher or school librarian if they can purchase a copy for your classroom or media center.

If you are a kid, please understand that I am a professional artist, and therefore unable to take free drawing requests. However, there are so many great tutorials on YouTube that can teach you how to draw! You can even trace the illustrations in my books as practice.

As a kid, drawing was my main hobby. I would come home from school and just draw and draw for hours. After years of doing this every day, I got pretty good. When I was in middle school, I would usually draw fan art for my favorite fandoms like Sonic the Hedgehog and My Little Pony. If there’s something you like, draw some fan art! That’s the quickest and easiest way to get better at drawing when you are young. When you’re older, I recommend studying human and animal anatomy and trying out different art mediums. (for example, if you always draw in pencil, try marker, pen, paint, or pastels.) You can even take some formal art classes. Sometimes you can find classes for free at your local library or community center, but if you or a parent are willing to spend some money, consider taking enrichment classes after school, or pre-college if you are in high school.

I graduated in 2023.

It varies from creator to creator, but on average, it takes 3-5 years for a graphic novel to be completed, from first draft to publishing. Some people hire assistants who do things for them like coloring or lettering, meaning that there is less work for the author/illustrator, but it still takes quite a while for a book to be created. I started writing Brainbow around 2022, and it was published in 2026. That’s four years!

I really love reading realistic fiction, thrillers, mystery, and memoirs the most. I like books by Stephen King, who is a famous author who writes horror novels for adults. My other favorite books written for adults include The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable, The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey, and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

My favorite books for young readers are Ms. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien, One Big Open Sky by Lesa Cline-Ransome, and Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson.

I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley New York where I still live today. I also lived in Baltimore briefly while I was attending college.

I have so many favorite TV shows— most of them are not super kid friendly. Kids, always ask an adult before you watch something you aren’t familiar with. With that being said, my favorite shows are Only Murders in the Building, Seinfeld, Monk, Breaking Bad, King of the Hill, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

My favorite (kid-friendly) movies are Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Secret of NIMH (anything directed by Don Bluth, really), and Cars.

Yep! I played clarinet for nine years during grade school, and I currently play bass guitar some Sundays at my church. I also dabble in the ukulele when I’m bored. I want to learn electric guitar next!

Yes, I have three cats. Doobie, Dori, and my angel kitty, Skeeter.

Nope. I work with kids a lot however, and I think they are so funny and full of great ideas. Kids inspire me every day with the creative and funny things they say to me.
